Volume No. 2 Issue No. 2 February 2002

Dear Family & Friends,

It is good to Praise the Name of the Lord and be of a cheerful heart with thanksgiving in our prayers for all things that He has done for us. We give all the Glory, Honor and Praise to God, for He is an awesome God that we get to serve. Amen! Amen! Amen!.

At the end of January’s newsletter we stated that we have some exciting news to share with all of our partners and friends in One With Christ Ministries. For the last year and half on almost every Wednesday night we have been meeting with Sam & Sharon Bradham from Franklin, NC to have prayer meetings. Sam and Sharon are very dear and special friends of ours and God has netted our hearts together to be intercessors of prayer. We have been praying about the lost and hurting people in Western North Carolina and have been seeking God about His church being planted in Franklin, NC.

On January 26, 2002 after our first Bible School, Sam and Sharon announced that they felt God was saying to start a church, and that the church service would start on February 10, 2002. Sam and Sharon asked us to be a part of God’s church that He was establishing in Franklin, NC. We felt that God wanted to plant us in His church and to be under the authority of Pastors Sam and Sharon Bradham. The name of the Church is Word and Spirit Ministries.

We have such peace about being a part of God’s church. We are not sure what part we are to be, but we know that we are to be servants of the Lord Jesus Christ and to be of help to our Pastors Sam and Sharon Bradham, to hold them up, stand by their sides, continue to intercede in prayer for them and the church and to do what is ask of us. We are so excited just to know that we are being used by the Lord Jesus and to be a part of what He has established “HIS CHURCH” in Franklin, NC.

When God called us into the Ministry our prayer before God was; God we will go anytime, anyplace, anywhere that you may send us, just allow us be in the center of Your Will, and He has answered our prayers. Thank you God. We ask that each one of you pray for Pastors Sam and Sharon, Word and Spirit Ministries and us. There is a lot of work to be done for the Kingdom of God and we are willing to do the part that God has called us to do.

Message this month is Temptation

This month we feel that the Holy Spirit is saying to us to give a message on temptation and give scriptures to help in temptation. It is so easy to be tempted in today’s world. There are so many things that can tempt us each day. In Matthew chapter 4 verses 1 thru 11, Jesus was tempted by the tempter (satan, devil). As you read the verses 1 thru 11 think about how we are tempted by satan to do things that are not right in the sight of God or how we might tempt God.

While reading God’s word in Matthew chapter 4, I felt the Holy Spirit was saying to me that when we are going through the valley, desert, test, trails or the wilderness during times of our lives and when the tempter comes to tempt us, there are three things that we can speak as Jesus spoke to the tempter and he will flee from us and that is in verses 4, 7, and 10 the words of Jesus. Because it is the written word of God and the tempter will flee from us.

Matthew 4:1 1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

I ask God why the Holy Spirit would lead Jesus into the wilderness; and the Lord said that if I lead you into the wilderness, I will lead you out; If you allow satan the tempter to lead you into the (wilderness, test, valleys etc.) you will be lead astray. It could take you 40 years instead of 40 days to spend in the wilderness. God’s leading will bring victory and with His power when we walk with God in the wilderness.

2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered.
3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The Holy Spirit showed me in verses 2,3, and 4 that when we are hungry “ not necessarily food only but needing help in time of trouble and no way out of a situation, a test, valley etc.” that is when the tempter will want you to do as he says and tell you that if you do this, then I will do this for you, he will tempt you to focus on the situation and not stand on the word of God. We must look upon Jesus for our help in time of need and seek God’s face and ask God to feed us with the Bread of Life the very Word of God.

5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

The Holy Spirit said that in verses 5, 6, and 7 that even the tempter will try and speak scripture verses to you that may sound correct as he tried to speak in verse 6 to Jesus, (which is in Psalms 91:11,12) but the verses are not correct and we as God’s people need to be able to discern in the Spirit when we hear a voice speaking a scripture to us in our minds, is it the tempter or is it God speaking to us.

8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

The Holy Spirit said that in verses 8, 9, that just because the tempter (devil) says that he will give us all things that we see, it is only a trap, a snare to us to believe anything that the devil would say to us or offer us such lies. Remember Satan has come to steal, kill and destroy the works of Jesus. When we are at our lowest in doubt, unbelief, confused, fear etc. then the devil will say to us that he will give us all things, but it ends up only trouble and pain and ending with nothing. There is a valuable lesson to be learned in verse 1 thru 11 for each one of us; no matter what we are going through the answer is the word of God.

I John 4:4 says: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I read the following in Kenneth Hagin Ministries Word of Faith magazine:

I believe the greater one is in me. I believe He’s greater than the devil. I believe He’s greater than the tests and trails I may face. I believe He’s greater than the storm I may be facing. I believe He’s greater than the problems that may be confronting me. I believe He’s greater than the circumstances that seem to have me bound. I believe He’s greater than sickness and disease. I believe He’s greater than anything and everything. And He dwells in me! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Learn to use the word of God and stand steadfast to His Word, no matter what we may go through His Holy Word is the answer to life. It is our prayer that God’s word will be deep in your spirits, so when the tempter comes against you, all you have to do is just speak the Word of God.
