One With Christ Ministries Newsletter

Volume 3    Issue 5     May 2003

Dear Family and Friends,

Psalm 89:1,2 1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.   2For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

May 1st thru the 3rd was our first class of Christian Life School of Theology.  The class was on Foundations of Christian Counseling.  We both enjoyed the teaching by Reverend Leroy “Chip” Judd.  We both received a lot of information that will be of help as God gives opportunities for us to minister to people.  Susan and I did really well on our test grades at the end of this session.

I want to reflect on Memorial Day in this May newsletter.  As a Veteran, it is somewhat difficult for me when national holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veterans Day comes around each year.  My heart goes out to the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families, especially to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifices in giving their lives so that we all can have the freedom each day in this great nation of ours.

Sunday May 22, 2003 at the church Susan and I attend, our pastor asked the Veterans to stand in recognition of Memorial Day. He spoke about how Memorial Day became a national Holiday and things that we as Americans can do to be a part of Memorial Day.  At the end of the service the pastor asked if any of the veterans would like to say anything, and I felt to share my heart to the congregation.  This is what I said, “I ask the people to pray for all the Veterans and their families, also to not think of Memorial Day as just a day off of work.  As for me I would remember those 250 men in my unit that gave their lives for me one night while in Vietnam.  That to pray for all the men and women that are laying their lives on the line in the Iraq War and all those that are station all over the world that continue to give us freedom each day.”

You see folks those 250 men in my unit in Vietnam laid down their lives for their friends that night in Vietnam and for the freedom of this country that we live in each day.  We must remember that freedom is not free.

Think about Jesus that paid the ultimate sacrifice, for us all that day on the cross at Calvary.  John 15:13 says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Have you thought about the freedom that Jesus gave to us all?  Maybe today as you read this newsletter, pray and give Jesus thanks for all that He done on the cross for you and your families.  May we never forget our Veterans who gave their lives during the Wars and those that have been wounded in battle, and Jesus Christ and all the pain and suffering and His blood that was shed on the cross to give us all freedom from sin and our salvation.

Have you received Jesus Christ into your heart that you may have freedom, peace, joy and His love everyday?  ASK, BELIEVE AND RECEIVE.  All you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and believe that He died and rose from the dead and receive Jesus in your heart.   Won’t You Receive Jesus As Your Personal Lord and Savior Today?  You will never be the same again with Jesus in your heart.  Thank you Lord Jesus.

The Message This Month Is Entitled “Psalm 23”

The message this month is about my favorite Psalm in the Bible.  Psalm 23 ministers to me in so many ways of day-to-day life.  In my times of trouble, fear, doubt, sickness, pain, hurt and many other things that I have gone through, God’s promises in Psalm 23 has ministered and been a blessing to me.  As you take the time to read Psalm 23, I pray that it will minister to you no matter what you may be going through.  Allow God’s Word and His Holy Spirit to teach and comfort you in your time of trials and valleys.

Psalm 23

A Psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.   3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

We received this by e-mail about Psalm 23, and pray that you will be blessed.

From Sue’s Desk

Isaiah 55:6-9

6 Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. 7a Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; 8“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. I have been hearing this (shaded part) written Word of the Lord over and over in my mind lately like a recording set on “repeat.”  Why would God state “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts”?  In thinking about this I realized that it is my ways and my thoughts that give me the biggest struggle of my daily walk with the Lord. I tend to want to see things my way, and think my own thoughts which both are the result of 50 years of my programming them into my mind based upon my life’s experience. For sure my ways and my thoughts will limit God. We can know His ways and His thoughts found in His written Word ready to be revealed by His Holy Spirit.  Starting with Romans 12:2a “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your  mind”   IN HIS LOVE, SUE

Our Hearts Desire Of One With Christ Ministries Newsletter

It is our hearts desire that One With Christ Ministries Newsletters will be a blessing to you and full of encouragement and hope so that you will have a deeper walk with God, come to know Him as He knows you, and to love God as He loves you. God wants His people to love Him and have a personal relationship with Him and to walk in a deeper walk with Him the Lord your God. We are finding out for ourselves that the more we draw nigh to God the more He draws nigh to us. God wants us to fellowship with Him, to be in His likeness and image, to do all things with Him, to hear His voice, to see what He sees, to say what he says, to walk where He walks and to do His will as His Son Jesus Christ did to reveal His Father. We are called to do His will, to reveal God to everyone that we meet, to have a compassionate heart and show the love of Jesus just as He did while on this earth.  May we go forth and give the love of Jesus to all that we meet each day.   Let us not miss an opportunity to be a witness for God to tell the lost, hurting, and wounded people of this world that Jesus loves them and has forgiven them of their sins.  May God fill your hearts with an overflowing of His peace and love. We thank you for your continual prayers and support for the ministry that God has entrusted us with.  We love you in the Lord Jesus. God Bless You.  Your gifts to the ministry are appreciated and tax-deductible.

In Our Heavenly Father’s Love,

Reverends Bill & Sue
